Located just 5 mins walk from Mikage station on Hankyu line, Yuzuruha shrine is surrounded by rich greenery as you can’t believe it’s in the city. When you enter the shrine, the first Japanese sacred forest designated by Kobe city including a 450-year-old camphor tree as well as a scabrous aphanathe designated as a natural treasure by the city is welcoming you. The deity of Kumano-okami whose messenger is a mythological three-leg crow called Yatagarasu also known as a symbol of Japan football association is enshrined. At Mikage Teacher’s college located in the same area as the shrine, the first soccer team in Japan was formed. It was known as prestigious soccer team as it won soccer championship 7 times in a row since this championship was started in the Taishō era. Because of that, it’s visited by many people including children praying for improving their soccer skills and soccer fans praying for victory.
