Motomachi (literally meaning “the original town of Kobe”) was formed in 1874 and became one of shopping hubs in Kobe. The 1.2 kilo meter long Motomachi shopping street offers 300 dining and shopping choices including +100-year-old shops and new shops. Right next to the arcade is Nankinmachi China Town. “La Luce” iconic glass gate welcomes people and lily of the valley light poles line up in the arcade. Motomachi Music Week, Motomachi “Yoichi” night market and other cultural events are held every season.
