Located on the south side of JR Shin-Nagata Station, this huge monument towers at a height of 18 meters and depicts the character Gigantor ("Tetsujin 28-go" or "Iron Man #28" in Japan), created by the late Kobe-born manga artist, Mitsuteru Yokoyama. The shopping district surrounding the monument also offers an exhibit introducing The Romance of the Three Kingdoms (Sangokushi), another of Yokoyama's signature comics, as well as a stone statue of one of the warriors that appears in his work. This is a must-see spot for fans of Japanese animation!
