Kobe City Hall Building No.1

The free observation lobby on the 24th floor offers a panoramic view of Kobe’s cityscape from approximately 100 meters above ground, spanning over 180 degrees. Free admission is another pleasant point. The building is barrier-free, making it an accessible viewing spot for visitors of all ages. Access from the station is also convenient.

Former Foreign Settlement

As the gateway to Japan, this area was once a place where foreign cultures flourished. Today, this is a fascinating area featuring the beautifully illuminated modern Western-style buildings, alongside the lights of new commercial buildings. The retro buildings create a nostalgic streetscape full of exotic atmosphere, making it a popular tourist spot. Located on the way from Kobe City Hall to Nankinmachi, it is perfect for a stroll while enjoying captivating nighttime lights.

Nankinmachi

One of Japan’s three largest Chinatowns. There are many shops selling Chinese ingredients, sundry goods, and cuisine. The area dazzles with vibrant red and yellow light displays. Chinese restaurants in Nankinmachi set up street stalls in front of their shops, offering delicious dim sum and other dishes at reasonable prices. Of course, it’s not just about eating on the go; the indoor dining options also boast a substantial lineup.

Meriken Park

A waterfront park located right next to Kobe’s landmark Port Tower. The sea stretches out before you, offering an expansive, open view. At the Fountain Plaza, you can enjoy an illumination show in which the fountain “dances” to music. Also worth seeing is the illuminated Memorial Park, which preserves a part of the wharf that collapsed in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
