Kobe is known for both its mountains and sea. You can enjoy both a panoramic view of Kobe from the mountain side and a night view of the bay area. This course takes you on a leisurely tour of some popular night view spots using public transportation. At Nunobiki Herb Gardens and Harborland, you can also enjoy activities and shopping.

Nunobiki Herb Gardens

One of the largest herb gardens in Japan, filled with 75,000 flowers and herbs. On nighttime operating days, you can enter the observation area after 5 pm to enjoy the night view. From the view spot, you can sometimes see as far as Wakayama. You can also arrive early and stroll around the garden area during the day. Check the nighttime operating days on the website beforehand.

Nunobiki Ropeway

A 1,460-meter-long ropeway stretching from near JR Shin-Kobe Station up to the Rokko Mountain Range. The approximately 10-minute ascent to an altitude of 400 meters feels like a stroll in the sky. Surrounded by lush greenery, you can enjoy a panoramic view from the fully glass-enclosed gondola. This ropeway is stroller accessible and ideal for families.

Kobe Port Loop Bus ride

Board the bus from Sannomiya Station. It will take about 16 minutes to get to Port Tower. The Port Loop Bus, which circles the city center, passes through Flower Road, decorated with colorful illuminations—”Museum of Light”—and goes past retro buildings such as the Kobe Customs House and KIITO. Shortly after passing the theater-style aquarium atoa, the Port Tower comes into view ahead, heightening anticipation for the next sight.

Meriken Park

A popular area where many Kobe landmarks are located, including the Port Tower. The “BE KOBE” monument is also a popular photo spot. This is a beautiful park with open lawns and a panoramic view of the sea. Illuminated cruise ships arrive at and depart from the pier on the west side of Meriken Park, allowing you to enjoy the port atmosphere. When you feel a bit tired, take a break at one of the cafes or on the lawn.

Harborland

Harborland, facing the sea, is a large commercial complex featuring cafes and restaurants. Being mostly indoors, you can enjoy a serene night view even on rainy days. Here are some restaurants where you can enjoy dinner while looking out at the night view. With popular children’s attractions and shops perfect for souvenirs nearby, Harborland is perfect for a wide range of visitors, including couples and families.
