Full Story of Chartered Train × Jazz × Gourmet Tour
Innovative and innovative! Enjoy jazz at a private Portliner
November 30th, just before 5:00 PM. Before dusk, all participants gather at Port Liner Sannomiya Station.
When you step onto the platform, a jazz band dressed as station staff greets you. They play the song "The Tracks Continue Forever" to lift the spirits of everyone waiting for the chartered train.
Just after 5:20 PM. Finally, we boarded the chartered train and started moving!
The jazz performance on the train was handled by the members of the Kumehiro Quartet. They performed four songs, including 'Let's Go by Train A' and 'March of the Saints.'
The chartered train consists of six cars. The jazz band moves from car six to car one, playing as they move. When the music that was heard in the distance approaches their own cars, you can feel everyone's excitement rising.
After about 15 minutes from boarding, the remaining brightness in the sky finally faded into view, and Kobe Airport came into view.
Luxurious Dinner at Ravimana Kobe
After getting off at Kobe Airport Station, the group boarded a bus heading to the wedding venue 'Ravimana Kobe.'
Located at the western end of Airport Island, Ravimana Kobe is a wedding venue full of resort vibe, featuring a beach. At one of these reception venues, you can enjoy a luxurious dinner that feels like you've been invited to a wedding.
The first appetizer brought out is very colorful and stimulates the appetite.
Appetizers, soup and bread, fish dishes, meat dishes, dessert and coffee (tea), and free drinks. It was truly a full course. Each dish was served one by one, so I could savor it at a leisurely pace.
Most participants signed up as one or two people, but as we sat at the round table and enjoyed delicious meals, we gradually became more familiar with each other.
While enjoying the meal and conversation, beautiful tones could be heard.
Yes, there is jazz performance at this dining venue too. Moreover, this is a different group from the jazz band that performed earlier at Portliner. This time, it's the members of the Yumi Mizuno Quartet, who have vocalists.
They performed nine songs, including encores such as "Tennessee Waltz" and "Harbor Knights." Some listened intently to their meals to the graceful melodies, while others enjoyed their meals or quiet conversations as luxurious background music.
Jazz and gourmet food. It was truly a relaxing and luxurious time.
On the way back, relax and enjoy the night view inside the train
After dining and enjoying jazz at Ravimana Kobe, we will return to Sannomiya on the Portliner.
On the return trip, there was no jazz performance on board. In the quiet car with the lights off, participants enjoyed the night view from the train window while soaking in the afterglow of the tour.
Includes a Baumkuchen souvenir!
At the end of the tour, participants were given souvenirs.
The inside is, surprisingly, a Baumkuchen in Juchheim. What a thoroughly designed tour......
By the end of the tour, all the participants looked very relaxed and satisfied.
Jazz, gourmet food, night views, and a private Portliner. It was a night where I enjoyed the best of Kobe's charm bit by bit.
Recommended Night View Spots on Port Island
This tour is packed with Kobe's attractions, but actually, it was a first-time attempt.
Since there were two jazz performances, I thought the tour was aimed at promoting culture, but the first person I approached was the Landscape Policy Division of Kobe City Hall, a department that deals with night views.
When it comes to night views, they are one of Kobe's greatest attractions. But when you hear 'Kobe night views,' what probably comes to mind are the scenery of Meriken Park and the views from Mount Maya and Kikuseidai.
"Actually, the night view from Port Island is beautiful, so I want more people to know about it!"
The passionate dedication of the Landscape Policy Division became the starting point for this tour. So, what kind of night views can you enjoy on Port Island?
■ Port Island North Park
First, just across from the Sannomiya side to Port Island, is 'Kita Park' located in the northeast part of the island. From here, above all, you can see the dynamic Kobe Ohashi Bridge.
■ Poai Shiosai Park
A little south from Kita Park, next to Kobe Gakuin University is 'Poai Shiosai Park.' The nearest is Port Liner's 'Minatojima' Station.
In 2018, the second BE KOBE Monument in the city was built, further enhancing the scenic appeal.
■ Kobe Airport
From the observation deck at Kobe Airport, which is at the southern edge of the city, you can clearly see the Port Tower and Mount Ichishō if you look north.
Right now, the observation deck is decorated with Christmas illuminations, so it's wonderful to see the city lights through the lights.
When I turned toward the airplane, the illumination reflected on the acrylic panels for the visit, allowing me to take magical photos!
■ Platforms at Port Terminal Station
The second stop after taking the Port Liner from Sannomiya, the 'Port Terminal Station.' Since this is a station for boarding the boat, you might rarely get off.
But surprisingly, it's a hidden gem for night views. Look, you can see this view from the platform!
Even without leaving the ticket gates, this is probably the only place in the city where you can see such a quintessential Kobe view from the "station platform." It might be a good idea to get off along the way when you have some free time.
■ Portopia Hotel Observation Deck 'Sorafune Kobe' (Paid)
Although there is a fee, the rooftop observation deck "Sorafune Kobe" at Portopia Hotel offers views of Kobe's sea, city, and mountains from a height of 110 meters.
Looking west, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is also perfectly visible. It must be beautiful at dusk as well.
