Kobe Luminarie
Immerse yourself in the solemn light art illuminating winter Kobe
A radiant event where colourful illuminations warmly adorn winter Kobe. This winter tradition in Kobe began following the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake in January 1995. It has been held annually to honour the victims and to pray for the city’s recovery and development. Each year, the light artworks are specially designed by an Italian designer, carrying the spirit of these prayers. They are meticulously assembled by Italian and Japanese artisans using materials shipped from Italy. These solemn and breathtakingly beautiful works of light art are truly a sight to behold.
