Special Exhibition: "Yoshio Yoshimura: Beyond the Master Craftsmanship"
Go beyond master skills, far beyond! A huge number of self-portraits drawn every day, a newspaper with copied every single letter, and a 10-meter-long colored pencil drawing. - all of Yoshimura's overly realistic works will simply amaze the viewer. Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1950, Yoshio Yoshimura first became publicly known in 2007. At the age of 57, Yoshimura suddenly came to the attention of the contemporary art scene after his work was featured in the \"Roppongi Crossing 2007\" exhibition at the Mori Art Museum. As a retrospective of Yoshimura's work, this exhibition will focus on a complete picture of Yoshimura's career with about 60 representative works, including monotone prints and drawings from his early years, colorful floral works from his later years as well as self-portraits that he continued to draw throughout his life. We hope that you will enjoy the vast works of Yoshio Yoshimura, who sadly passed away in 2013, as he continued to question through his art the meaning of painting and living, without focusing on his painting skills.
