31th Kobe Luminarie @Higashi Yuenchi Park / Former Foreign Settlement / Meriken Park

The 31th "Kobe Luminarie", an illumination event, is held in Kobe city from January 30th to February 8th in 2026.

"Kobe Luminarie" was first held in December 1995, the same year of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, to pray for the victims and hope for the reconstruction of Kobe city. Since then, this event has been held annually as a symbol of Kobe's resilience and as a place to reconfirm the lessons of the earthquake.

The artworks are displayed at various venues in Kobe City.
Visitors can enjoy a 50-meter-long, 22-meter-high wall of light in Higashi Yuenchi Park and a collection of smaller light art pieces in the Former Foreign Settlement, free of charge. Furthermore, those with tickets can access the paid area of Meriken Park and walk through a 75-meter-long light corridor.

We hope you visit Kobe for this magnificent event.
