The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Memorial / Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution (DRI)

This is a disaster museum that teaches the next generation about the experience and lessons of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, as well as the preparations for the future. Learn what earthquake that struck in 1995 was like through a film recreating the second the quake hit (in the 1.17 Theater), displays of quake-related materials provided by survivors and more.

Try the Weather Walk, where you take the role of a high-pressure system and guide the path of a typhoon and the Mission Room, where realistic evacuation training is performed in a real-looking home, convenience store and other settings. Indeed, the DRI has a range of interactive exhibitions that help people to develop the ability to think, decide and take action in the case of the unexpected.

From kids to adults, this is a place to learn about disaster prevention in every sense, including disasters themselves, and about preventing and reducing impacts.
