Minatogawa Shrine
The site where the revered warrior Kusunoki Masashige met his end and his tomb. The tombstone bears an inscription written by Tokugawa Mitsukuni (17th century daimyo of Mito). These are designated National Cultural Properties.
The 163 ceiling paintings in the main hall, bequeathed by famous artists from around Japan, are majestic. The treasure hall display includes the vest worn by Lord Masashige, as well as a lotus sutra by his calligraphy (both are important cultural properties).
