Nunobiki Falls

The Nunobiki Falls, located on the mountain side of Shin-Kobe Station halfway down Ikuta River, are not just one of Japan’s top 100 waterfalls, they are also considered one of the three great divine waterfalls in Japan, along with Nachi Falls (Wakayama Prefecture) and Kegon Falls (Tochigi Prefecture)

The Nunobiki Falls do not consist of one waterfall alone, it is the name used to cover four separate falls: Ontaki, Mentaki, Meotodaki and Tsutsumigadaki. The uppermost is the Ontaki Falls, crashing down a spectacular 43-meter drop. The closest is Mentaki Falls, a walk of about five minutes from Shin-Kobe Station. Ontaki Falls is reached in around 15 minutes. The path from the station to the falls is excellent, making it possible to stop off for a quick refresh in nature anytime.

This is a must-see destination in the spring new leaf and autumn falling leaf seasons.
