sightseeing

Arima Onsen, once called the okuzashiki ("back parlor") in Kobe, is one of the three oldest hot springs in Japan, along with Dogo and Shirahama. Many historical persons, including the priests Gyoki Bosatsu, Ninsai Shonin and Taiko Hideyoshi, are said to have visited this site. Here, in the hot spring area, one can enjoy two types of water--kinsen (gold), which includes iron and salt; and clear, colorless ginsen (silver). It is also fun to stroll through the town, the atmosphere of which is so distinctly Japanese.
