The Moegi (meaning 'yellow-green') House was built to house the Consul-General of the United States in 1903 and designated an important national cultural asset in 1980. A wooden two-story foreign hall, it is built in the shitami itabari style (wooden board siding with battens) and featuring two different bay (overhanging) windows. The residence also boasts innumerable premium design fixtures: the staircase with an arabesque pattern and a heavy mantlepiece among others, while the second-floor veranda offers matchless views of Kobe's urban center.
