Walk and cruise around the Port of Kobe

The Meriken Park and Harborland area is the best location to experience the scenery of the port of Kobe. At the time when the port opened in 1868, the Meriken Docks were constructed as the landing port for foreign cargo, and it was from here that the Western culture of the time spread to the rest of Japan. Within the reclaimed land of Meriken Park is Port Tower that dominates Naka Pier, the Kobe Maritime Museum that symbolizes a ship's sail and waves beside it, and the Port of Kobe Memorial Park where visitors can view the scars of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Various ships that cruise around the Port of Kobe and Pearl Bridge depart from Kamomeria (Naka Pier Terminal) and the surrounding piers. The view of Kobe from the sea is exceptional.
